Sam Barry and Richard’s Team Motorsport have high goals set for round 2 of the BNT NZ Touring Car championship which is to be held at Bruce Mclaren Motorsport Park in Taupo this weekend (10-11 December).
Following on from a great start to the championship at the Pukekohe ITM Supercar 500, Sam is keen to keep up the fast pace when he hits the track on Saturday morning.
“I am so excited to be racing at one of my favourite tracks, it is a track where I have notched up a couple of race wins over the past and will be pushing hard to get my maiden win in the Toyota,” says Barry.
Richards Team Motorsport have been very busy between rounds one and two, not only was there some minor damage to Sam’s BEL Group backed #71, there was also major working happening to Jason Bargwanna’s #97.
With the engine damage suffered at Pukekohe, RTM elected to remove the Ford Falcon engine and replace it with a Toyota 5L V8. To suit the new engine the body shell has under gone a makeover, revealing a two car Toyota Camry team.
“I will no longer have the best sounding car on pit lane, as I now have to share that title with Jason. However there are some huge positives for me to take out of the teams decision to become a two car Toyota team. The ability to have such accurate data between the two cars means I will be able to learn so much more.”
