Alexandra Whitley will line up in a Richards Team Motorsport Toyota Camry when the BNT V8s Championship gets underway at Pukekohe next weekend.
Her debut in the BNT V8s Championship follows on from a positive debut in the V8 Utes Championship last season where the 26-year-old Australian driver finished sixth overall accumulating a number of podium results including a race win.
Whitley will campaign the car driven last season by fellow countryman Brenton Grove and says she’s eager to get behind the wheel of the Camry and is under no illusion of the challenge ahead of her and getting up to speed with the V8.
“It’s going to be a challenge for sure. But the Richards Team are very professional and they have lots of data for me to look at, which will help me get up to speed quickly,” says Whitley.
With no testing planned, Whitley’s first experience of the Camry will be during Practice 1 next Friday.
“I’ll be straight into the car on Friday, so will just chip away at it slowly and try to get faster over the weekend. Pukekohe is my favourite track, so looking forward to it.”
Richards Team Motorsport Principal, Steve Richards says he’s excited to have Whitley join the team.
“We’ve been impressed with Alexandra’s approach to her racing so far in her career, and are looking forward to working with her, getting her up to speed and looking to secure some good results for her and the team.”
The BNT V8s will have three races next weekend at Pukekohe.
