After a disappointing two rounds in the South Island last month, Sam Barry is excited to head to his local track, Manfeild, as round five of the BNT NZ Touring Car Championship gets underway this weekend.
Rounds three and four proved disappointing in terms of results, but the Waipukurau racer is determined to push ahead to achieve his goals for the weekend.
“I’m looking forward to putting on a show for all of our local fans and supporters. I will be working hard on and off the track to ensure that I bounce back from the disappointment in the deep south,” says Barry.
With three weeks between rounds four and five Richards Team Motorsport have been hard at work preparing both of the Toyota Camry’s for Barry and team mate Jason Bargwanna.
Barry currently sits fourth in points, just 22 points behind his team mate who is in third.
With Manfeild and Hampton Downs remaining on the championship calendar, Barry says his goal is still to finish the championship on the podium
“With only two rounds left in the championship I still have my main goal set on a podium finish, however two DNF’s this season have made that hard work this late in the championship. Our goal for this weekend is a podium, which is very achievable at my local track.”
