Nick Ross Wins in BNT V8s at Manfeild

Nick Ross has taken the round honours at round five of the BNT V8s at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon at Feilding this weekend.

Ross claimed two pole positions before going on to take a race win, a second place and third placing in the final race.

“Really great weekend, two poles, a win, a second and a third, you can’t complain about that,” said Ross.

“That last race was pretty hectic, the conditions were very slippery, and I was lucky to be able to rejoin after going off the circuit earlier on.

“The conditions this weekend were really challenging. Hot conditions, wet conditions, it made it really challenging trying to pick the right set-up for the car. The team has put in a really great effort, pleased how it all panned out.”

Ross had earlier won Sunday’s first race of the day, backing up second place on Saturday. The race on Sunday morning finished under safety car after heavy rain lashed the circuit with a handful of laps remaning. Ross holding onto victory from Australia Jack Smith in a Holden Commodore and series leader Andre Heimgartner in his Toyota Camry.

The class one round podium for the weekend was rounded out by Andre Heimgartner in second, with Australian Jack Smith in third.

Australian Jason Bargwanna won the final race of the weekend, while his teammate and points leader Heimgartner suffered from an oil issue with his Toyota Camry, finishing further down the order.

The resulting win for Bargwanna closing up the points gap in the championship.

“It goes to show that the championship is far from over, we’ll be going to the next round at Hampton Downs to get pole position and three wins. It should be an exciting finish to the season,” said Bargwanna.

Class two was won by Brock Timperley who started scored three wins from three starts across the weekend,

“Really really stocked,” said Timperley.

“Everyone was on slicks in that last race, it was incredibly wet and greasy.

“We battled with a clutch issue today, but managed to get it home in one piece.”

The class two podium was rounded out by Liam MacDonald and Chelsea Herbert.

The final round of the BNT V8s will be at Hampton Downs, March 10-11.
